Dubai Airshow 2025

Rosoboronexport JSC (part of the Rostec State Corporation) was organizing the single Russian exhibit at the Dubai Airshow 2025, an international aerospace exhibition was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Russian pavilion, covering a total area of 1,000 square meters, featured defence, dual-use and civilian products from the country's major defence holding companies, including Rostec's United Aircraft Corporation, United Engine Corporation, Radio-Electronic Technologies Concern and others. Products from the Almaz-Antey Air and Space Defence Corporation and the Tactical Missiles Corporation also were on display. The Russian Knights aerobatic team, always acclaimed by spectators worldwide, performed aerobatic maneuvers on Su-35S fighters.

'The Dubai Airshow is a global platform where trends in the aerospace and defence industries are shaped. In 2025, Rosoboronexport will showcase more than 850 Russian products here – highly intelligent systems capable of dramatically enhancing our partners' defence capabilities. Of these, 30+ most in-demand ones in a full-scale version will be on static display on the ground and in a pavilion,' - said Rosoboronexport Director General Alexander Mikheev. – 'In Dubai, we will demonstrate the latest achievements of the Russian defence industry in aviation, space exploration and air defence. During the business program, we will hold talks with delegations from the armed forces of countries in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as other regions, regarding the supply of Russian products and the establishment of technology cooperation.'

Most of the presented products have experience of use in combat conditions and have been developed and modified to meet the realities of modern high-intensity conflict.

The Su-57E fifth-generation fighter developed and produced by UAC was unveiled in the Middle East for the first time. Its superior performance were demonstrated during the air show's flight demonstration program.

'Today, Russia is the only country that offers not only the supply of fifth-generation fighters but also the localization of Su-57E production on the territory of a foreign customer. This includes technology transfer and enables partners to develop their own next-generation aircraft,' - noted Alexander Mikheev.

The capabilities of Russia’s most advanced aircraft systems, namely the Su-57E fifth-generation fighter and the Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopter, will also be showcased in the skies over Dubai. Thanks to a coaxial rotor configuration, the Ka-52 is unique in terms of its maneuverability, as it can quickly turn towards the target, and is capable of high-speed lateral movement and steep dives.

The Su-57E was on static display along with the latest air weapons developed and manufactured by the Tactical Missiles Corporation. The advanced RVV-MD2 air-to-air missiles, Kh-38MLE, Kh-69 and Grom-E1 air-to-surface missiles and the Kh-58UShKE air-to-radar missiles, integrated into the fifth-generation fighter's weapons suite, were designed for internal carriage. The exhibition also featured a unique RVV-BD extended-range air-to-air guided missile.

In the aircraft engine segment, Rosoboronexport showcased the new-generation Item 177S turbojet engine, which boasts improved performance (thrust, fuel consumption and service life) compared to previous-generation aircraft engines.

The modernized Yak-130M combat trainer aircraft, featuring an updated avionics suite and a new aircraft armament system, made its world premiere.

The Yak-130M fully complies with the requirements of a light combat aircraft for performing fighter and ground attack missions. It is fitted with state-of-the-art avionics, including an airborne radar, a targeting pod, and the President-S130 self-protection electronic warfare (EW) system. Furthermore, the aircraft's range of guided air weapons has been expanded. This includes the RVV-MD short-range air-to-air missile and the KAB-250LG-E and K08BE guided bombs for engaging ground and surface targets.

On static display Rosoboronexport presented the IL-76MD-90A(E) military transport aircraft capable to perform a wide range of missions during special operations, including transportation of equipment, cargo, and personnel of airborne units and combat vehicles, evacuation, firefighting, and disaster relief. The aircraft boasts improved transport capabilities and can carry a payload of up to 60 tons over a range of 4,000 km or 52 tons over a range of 5,000 km.

The IL-76MD-90A(E) is equipped with a state-of-the-art multi-channel EO system to accurately locate airdrop zones. Optionally, it can be fitted with the President-S self-protection EW system, firefighting and casualty evacuation equipment.

The Ka-52 recon/attack helicopter, a recognized leader in its market segment, participated in the airshow's flight program. The helicopter’s coaxial rotor system enables it to perform unique maneuvers: a quick turn towards the target, high-speed lateral movement and a steep dive.

Along with the Ka-52, advanced air weapons that can be integrated into Ka-52-type helicopters were on display: the Kh-MD multipurpose homing missile for engaging ground and surface targets, as well as the Kh-38MLE guided missile for destroying surface targets in the coastal zone and armored ground targets. The 305E lightweight multipurpose guided missile, which has proven highly effective in real combat conditions, was also demonstrated.

In the unmanned aerial vehicle segment, Rosoboronexport showcased the Orlan-10E, Orlan-30 and Skat-350M reconnaissance UAV systems.

Rosoboronexport's stand featured Russian loitering munitions, including the upgraded Lancet-E system, which currently has the most extensive combat experience in the world, and the KUB-2-2E loitering munition with an automatic guidance system.

For the first time, the Russian exhibit at the Dubai Airshow included full-scale air defence systems. Among them was the Pantzir-SMD-E surface-to-air missile (SAM) system, developed and produced by High Precision Weapons, designed to destroy all types of aerodynamic targets, including any UAVs. It has a modular design and features the combined use of two types of missiles and a large missile load: up to 48 TKB-1055 short-range SAMs or up to 12 57E6 SAMs on each combat module, or a combination of both.

The new Pantsir system has been developed by High-Precision Weapons in response to current UAV threats. It is designed to protect industrial and administrative facilities and is capable of destroying all types of aerodynamic targets, including any unmanned aerial vehicles. The ammunition load in the launching ramp may comprise up to 48 miniature short-range guided surface-to-air missiles or 12 standard missiles.

'This year, the Pantsir-SMD-E system has already attracted a lot of attention among our foreign partners at the IDEX exhibition in Abu Dhabi. The threat of large-scale UAV attacks is now recognized worldwide, and the new modular Pantsir system provides a flexible solution as it can be deployed on building rooftops or at specially prepared sites. The ammunition load can be increased to 48 miniature missiles, which makes it possible to effectively repel large-scale UAV attacks and provides reliable protection for various facilities, including industrial, social and transport infrastructure as well as other structures. We expect that this system will attract considerable interest at Dubai Airshow 2025,' said Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of the Weapons Cluster of Rostec State Corporation, member of the Bureau of the Union of Machine Engineers of Russia.

For the first time in the Middle East, the company presented a compact solution for monitoring UAVs and small aircraft, namely a short-range airspace surveillance radar. It weighs 45 kg, can be transported using mobile vehicles, and is capable of detecting medium-sized UAVs at a distance of 7.5 km or more.

In addition, visitors could show an airspace control system that detects and tracks flying targets, including UAVs and cruise missiles. The system’s capabilities enable it to detect even low-altitude and low-speed targets.

The Dzhigit tripod-mounted support launcher and the Verba MANPADS, as well as the SKVP airspace control system, which detects and tracks UAVs and small aircraft, were exhibited on static display. The Verba short-range man-portable air-defense system designed to destroy airplanes, helicopters, UAVs and cruise missiles. It remains effective even amid strong optical jamming.

For greater mobility and convenience, a crew can use the Dzhigit launching unit, which can be deployed at a combat site in just three minutes. It is a fire-and-forget system that can launch two Verba or Igla surface-to-air missiles. The unit can be used as a fixed version or mounted on a vehicle; it can also be disassembled and carried manually.

The holding companies participated in the single Russian exhibit also showcased a wide range of modern products across market segments at their stands. Visitors to the Russian pavilion were able to see a wide range of military and special-purpose aircraft, helicopters, aircraft engines, avionics and electronics, aircraft weapons for various flying platforms, air defense systems, and electronic warfare systems.

In addition to showcasing new Russian weapons, Rosoboronexport conducted a comprehensive business program at Dubai Airshow 2025. The Company hold meetings and talks with delegations from the Middle East countries, as well as with numerous exhibitors from other regions, including the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and Latin America.

'We’ll focus on technology cooperation – the most in-demand format of cooperation in the world today. We’ll talk about successfully implemented projects and discuss promising ones, including those related to the products presented at the airshow,' - added Alexander Mikheev.

Rostec’s United Engine Corporation has first showcased the fifth generation 177S engine and its improved modification at Dubai Airshow 2025. The advanced propulsion units surpass equivalent foreign products in their performance and may be used in existing and future aircraft.

The new product is classified as a fifth generation system and substantially surpasses its predecessors and many equivalent foreign products in its performance. The 177S provides up to 14.5 tons of thrust, while the operating time is three times higher, i.e. the engine life has been considerably increased compared with the previous generation engines.

The implemented design solutions provide increased thrust with the same dimensions and weight as those of the baseline AL-31F/FP mounted on the Su aircraft. Thus, the 177S may be used instead of previously supplied engines without any modifications. The operating time of the propulsion unit is 6,000 hours. The engine thrust may be additionally increased when the operating time requirement is reduced.

Fuel consumption in all operating conditions has been reduced by 7% due to new engineering solutions. Thus, operating cost may be reduced, flight range may be increased and the capability to perform complex aerobatic figures may be expanded. In addition, the engine provides increased power supply to the avionic systems of modern aircraft.

Rostec State Corporation also showcased at the Dubai Airshow 2025 the upgraded Yak-130M jet trainer and combat aircraft and the domestically produced Ansat-M helicopter was presented abroad for the first time. In addition, the Su-57E fifth-generation Russian fighter jet make its debut in the Middle East and take part in the flying display.

The Yak-130M aircraft produced by the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) features a new aviation weapons system and airborne equipment. The upgraded aircraft is designed for the training of pilots of fourth- and fifth-generation fighters, as well as for strike and fighter missions as a light combat aircraft. The introduction of new airborne systems will enable the Yak-130M to operate both in the daytime and at night in any conditions, and will expand its combat capabilities.

The event also marked the world premiere of the domestically produced version of the Ansat-M light multipurpose helicopter built by Russian Helicopters, with Russian VK-650V engines produced by United Engine Corporation. The aircraft, which made its maiden flight this autumn, features an upgraded fuselage, a new powerplant and airborne systems. The helicopter is highly maneuverable and has the most spacious cabin in its class. It can perform a wide range of tasks, including in dense urban areas.

'The Dubai Airshow is one of the key global venues where current trends in aviation and defense are shaped. As always, we have something to show and offer to the global community, in both the military and civilian segments. I am sure that there will even be a number of surprises, as this year we will unveil several products that are new for the Middle East. These include the new Ansat with a Russian-made powerplant, the upgraded Yak-130M, and, of course, the Su-57, which has proven its status as a fifth-generation fighter in real-world combat conditions. The advantages of our aircraft include the fact that they do not rely on foreign components, as well as their state-of-the-art performance characteristics, and an extensive track record of their operation, which speaks for itself. This is why our airplanes and helicopters are sought after in many countries around the world,' said Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation.
